A very special day!

Today was a very special day. My mom is a HUGE fan of British history and has been looking forward to this day for many years.
Queen Elizabeth the second flew into Kitchener/Waterloo today to visit RIM (the maker of Blackberry)
At about 5:30am Cynthia, My parents and i pulled out and made our way down to KW to see her. We stood outside the airport from 7am until she arrived at 10:45. It was pretty amazing to be there with about 2 thousand others (the news said 200 but they counted about 2 hours before she arrived so MANY more had arrived by the time she made her appearance) to see our beloved monarch. The excitement was palpable. Two very cute women came with a big Union Jack wearing tiaras and big necklaces, An 80 something year old man came with a newspaper clipping from before World War 2 with a picture of himself and several other teenagers including the Queen who was 13 at the time. Another lady we befriended had written the queen a letter a month ago a received a reply which she had brought along.
All in all it was a very fun day. Well worth the hours in the hot sun to support a very neat lady.
Above is Mom and Cynthia at 7:30am waiting, extremely excited.
Below is Dad being interviewed by a reporter for CTV (he made the news, the clip is in the post below)
Cynthia being interviewed for CTV news. She was also interviewed for 570 news (radio) (as was I) and for the airports website.
Trying to get some shade. it was a HOT day! Cynthia's flag attracted media attention. :)

The procession starts!!!!
She was three cars back in the one with the crown license plate and no light.
The front of her car...
A pretty sweet picture (if i do say so myself) of the Queen driving by with the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip.
The back of her car...
a shot of her coming back to the airport after visiting RIM
We got quite a few more of her in the car and getting back into the airplane but i didn't want to overload you too much. :)
All in all it was a pretty unforgettable day.
But as a wise man (Ray Jones) said to me in a text today:
"If we think that was great what about when we see the Lord face to Face. One glimspe of His dear face all sorrows will errase."
Wow Ray !! thanks for putting that into perspective. I've never thought of it in that context. How amazing that day will be!!!
