Here is the latest on baby Gabe:
“Thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers.
Gabe is now in the PACU instead of the PICU. He was completely off isolation until this afternoon when they put him (and us) back on it. So we have to wear the gown, gloves, and mask again. They are doing that because they still don't have any idea what is causing him to be so sick. He has gotten about 25 different antibiotics just in case its some bacterial infection, but nothing seems to bring his fever down (he does get some relief from Tylenol though). They did another X-Ray of his belly and it came back fine so thats good. The dr last night did mention that if his fever continues with no other answers, they might consider doing an u/s of his kidneys to see if there is some problem there. I was able to let him nurse twice today. He is getting used to the ease of a bottle so he was lazy and just got comfy and wanted to sleep, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt since he's so sick. One interesting thing: they weigh him each morning before he eats and he has actually gained weight while being here. When we got to the ICU at the first hospital, they weighed him in at 10 lb 11.5 oz. I'm not sure what he weighed when he first got here, but this morning completely naked (no diaper) he weighed 11lbs 3 oz!!! Even though is so sick and just started eating regularly, he is still growing which has got to be a good sign. I guess you can't stop our chunky monkey!
Anyway, so, we really have no new news and the dr's are just taking a watch and see approach.
I'll keep you posted as we have more info. Thanks again for all the prayers. Gabe is a little fighter, that's for sure!”
